Historic Willamette in West Linn

Willamette is the oldest commercial center in West Linn and keeps its own name.

A town of its own

Wikipedia says West Linn incorporated in 1913 and merged with the neighboring town of Willamette in 1916. The former townsites it lists, including Willamette, Bolton, Multnomah City and Sunset City, are still the names of neighborhoods. The City of West Linn recognizes a Willamette Neighborhood Association among its 11.

Historic Willamette Main Street

Historic Willamette Main Street is a local organization based on Knapps Alley. Its site says its mission is to preserve the area's history and natural beauty, support downtown businesses and build an inclusive community, and that it is supported by the City of West Linn and others. It calls the area the Willamette Business District, a historic downtown.

A note on the district name

We could not find an official City page defining a Willamette Historic District or its boundaries, so we do not describe one here. For historic designations, ask the City's planning staff.
